About Women That Rock
Six years ago along the banks of the Blanco River in Wimberly, Texas, inspiration hit! Surrounded by beautiful river rocks, I began to visualize women's faces on them. I decided to call them "Women That Rock", because we are all created by God as special unique individuals, beautiful in His sight; that's why we are "WOMEN THAT ROCK!” All the rocks will be as different and unique as we are and as of today I have created close to 4000 women on rocks. One year later, I decided to create the "Women Rock Artcar" and take my message and my art on the road. Since its creation in 2002, she has been to ten states bringing many smiles across the miles and has won 1st and 2nd place awards in Houston, Kentucky, and Florida. Somewhere along the way I acquired the name "THE ROCK LADY" and it has stuck with me now for four years. Many stories could be told of friendships made, hysterical road stories, encouragement, and even miracles that have happened along this path I have chosen to follow.
Most recently, I have spent most of my time doing caricatures on Texas river rocks. I attend many public and private functions and bring delight to onlookers whilst I paint people on rocks. In 2007 my rock art was featured on Great Day Houston, with a rock of the host herself. Whitney Casey aired live on her show. In April 2007, I did a rock of Ellen DeGeneres, and it also was aired live on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. In 2005 I did the Fox 26 news team and was the featured artist of the week where they featured my artwork all five days on the morning news. On a more serious note, I also enjoy painting women on canvas. I look for photos of women that touch my heart and I paint them. Currently I have completed twelve paintings and have sold numerous copies of them. My painting "Arms of Love" is currently on exhibit in City Hall. "Afghan Eyes Cannot Lie" is on exhibit in the Art Car Museum. Recently in July of 2007, the Houston Chronicle "Faces in the Crowd" featured an article about me called "Her Art Really Rocks!” In my travels throughout the country going to different art car parades, I am most always in the local news or their local paper.
